The Artist Behind Brokenland — A Story of Growth, Struggles, and Resilience

"Brokenland is my story," says Judd. "Life doesn’t always go the way you plan. It’s full of highs and lows, and it’s through the tough times that you grow. Everyone has their own struggles, and that’s what makes these songs resonate. Despite it all, with everything I’ve learned along the way, I wouldn’t change a thing. I like the person I’ve become. Releasing these songs has brought me peace. My situation might feel broken, but it’s also filled with hope."

Judd’s journey into music began early. Growing up in a family where music was always present—his maternal grandfather was an opera singer and his mother and sisters performed as a trio—he was surrounded by sound from the start. At six years old, he picked up the drums, drawn to the energy and raw power of rock bands like Led Zeppelin. By his early twenties, he was already fronting his own metal band, playing guitar and vocals. Along the way, Judd earned recognition in the jazz world as well, winning awards for his drumming and musicianship.

After some time away from the spotlight to reflect and grow, Judd found his way back to music, diving into local events and festivals, always chasing his dream of sharing his story with the world. The turning point in his musical journey came when he teamed up with renowned producer Scott Wiley, whose work with artists like Imagine Dragons and The Killers helped bring Judd’s vision to life. Recording at June Audio, Judd not only sang but played guitar and drums, while Wiley contributed bass and lent his expertise to the album’s production. Their collaboration became the heart and soul of Brokenland—an album that mixes deep emotion with intricate instrumentation.

Brokenland has already made waves, being named a “New Country and Americana Album” by American Songwriter magazine, solidifying Judd’s place in the contemporary Americana and country scene.

The album opens with the powerful “Fascination Die,” a song that sets the tone with its gentle acoustic guitar and Judd’s soulful vocals. It explores the early stages of love, capturing that electrifying feeling of being captivated by someone, unsure if it will last. “It always felt like the perfect intro,” says Judd. “It’s about that gut feeling when you’re falling in love and wondering if it’s going to stick.”

Next, the soulful “Into The Dawn” takes a more reflective turn, exploring the uncertainty that comes with relationships. "It's about throwing caution to the wind and seeing where it leads," Judd explains.

“Town of Dreams” tells the story of a friend who moved to Nashville to chase her dreams, and the strength she found along the way. Judd shares, “The song is about her finding the confidence to say, ‘This is my dream, and I’m not leaving.’ She’s my hero, and this is my shout-out to her.”

In “Meant To Be,” Judd opens up about the pain of betrayal, pouring his raw emotions into a song that is both vulnerable and unapologetic. One of its most powerful lines sets the scene: “I’m at a motel, outside Midway, I would’ve worn a stamp to mail myself away.”

Perhaps the most moving track on Brokenland is “Of Angels,” a heartfelt tribute to the loss of someone special. "It’s about losing a girl to cancer,” Judd says. “She was a beautiful soul, and she grew her wings to fly away.” The song’s emotional depth is amplified by Scott Wiley’s production, capturing the raw grief of such a profound loss.

The album ends on an uplifting note with “Carry On,” an anthem of perseverance. As the song crescendos, it delivers a powerful message: Even when everything feels broken, there’s always a way to keep moving forward.

Ultimately, Brokenland is an album of healing—a journey through pain, growth, and hope. Through his music, Judd invites listeners to embrace vulnerability, find strength in their struggles, and hold onto the hope that comes with pushing through life’s toughest moments.

Looking ahead, Judd Warrick is already working on new music that blends his metal roots with the soulful storytelling of Americana. “I’m finding new ways to bring these two worlds together,” he says. “It’s a blend of styles that feels authentic to where I am right now. I’m excited to see how it evolves and to share it with people who are on their own journeys of growth.”
